Understanding the effects of string tension.

When you first purchase a tennis racquet you need to provide the desired string tension. Each tennis racquet comes with a recommended stringing tension provided by the manufacturer that would best fit the racquet frame. The tension indicates the weight applied to the stringing machine while stringing the racquet. The range is typically between 50lbs and 60lbs.

A lower tension will provide more power due to the reduced stiffness. While a higher tension will provide more control to your stroke.
