A few things to know about pickle ball balls.
There are two categories of pickle ball balls: indoor and outdoor.
Outdoor balls are slightly heavier, harder and have a smoother surface. They have smaller holes and more of them. Because of the nature of playing outdoors they tend to crack faster and need to be replaced more often than indoor balls. Indoor balls are lighter, easier to control and have a softer feel.
Pickleball balls if played actively can be replaced after a few games or could last you several months if played casually.
