Pickleball is a popular paddle sport invented in the 1960s by combining elements of tennis, badminton, and ping pong. The sport is played but either 2 of 4 players each using paddles to hit a perforated plastic ball over a net.

A pickleball court is the size of a full badminton court which is 20 by 44 feet where both singles and doubles play use the same exact measurements.

The net on a pickleball court has a height of 36 inches measured at the outer posts. The centre of the net hangs slightly lower at 34 inches at the center.

The court is split down the center dividing each half. Starting from the net, each side has a 7 foot inner court where volleys are strictly prohibited. This area of the court is now unofficially known as “the kitchen”.
